Swimming in rough or stormy waters

Target Audience: Aimed at all those with high swimming abilities and extensive experience in open waters who wish to discover new ways to enjoy them.

Description: A small group outing to the sea to discover the possibilities offered by moderate storms to enjoy swimming in a completely different, even wild, way than we are used to. We will learn to read the waves, choose the right moment to enter and exit, the most fun route, swim between crests, perceive and anticipate larger waves, breathe, and above all, maintain calm at all times.

Schedule: All year round, but it will depend on some unpredictable storm in the short and long term.

Materials: Swimsuit, swimming goggles, and cap.

      • Patient observation of conditions (wave direction and size)

Behavior of waves on the beach:

  • Good points – oasis, bad points – hell
  • Forecast of condition evolution (Intensity, direction)
  • Choice of entry and exit point.
  • Choice of moment
  • Entry and overcoming the break
  • Group swimming
  • Fun exercises (body surfing, crossing waves, jumping, facing moderate breaks)
  • Evaluation of the exit point and exit
